The Role

We are seeking a CPSO-licensed Physician to join our team as a Metabolic & Obesity Medicine Specialist. In this role, you will lead the clinical management of patients with complex metabolic conditions, focusing on the intersection of obesity, insulin resistance, and cardiometabolic risk.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage diabetes, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and metabolic contributors to dyslipidemia.

  • Assess obesity-related cardiometabolic risks and provide long-term follow-up for weight management.

  • Prescribe and monitor anti-obesity pharmacotherapy and metabolic therapies, balancing pharmacological intervention with lifestyle-based strategies.

  • Participate in shared care models for complex cases.

  • Utilize virtual care platforms to deliver high-quality, patient-centered specialty care.

Position Requirements

  • MD with CPSO certification in Internal Medicine +/- Subspecialty with an interest in Metabolic Health..

  • An interest in Metabolic Medicine or Obesity Medicine (ABOM certification or equivalent experience is a strong asset).

  • A strong interest in collaborative, multidisciplinary practice and a comfort level with virtual-first treatment models.

  • A passion for long-term cardiometabolic risk reduction and improving patient health spans.

The Kingston Heart Clinic also services the local Penitentiary cardiac patients, RMC and First Nations people from the far North.

The clinical services offered by the Clinic include; Cardiology consultations, Electrocardiography, Holter monitoring, Treadmill exercise testing, Treadmill exercise echocardiography, Supine bicycle exercise echocardiography, Dobutamine stress echocardiography, Transthoracic echocardiography, Ambulatory 24hr blood pressure monitoring, PAD testing, carotid duplex imaging, exercise MIBI scanning, persantine MIBI scanning, dobutamine MIBI scanning and MUGA scanning.
